My Journey
It seems I’ve got a knack for all things marketing, and I couldn’t be more fired up about it. One of the things that really lights me up is taking a brand-new idea or an established business and helping them take that next step toward growth. More than anything, I know how to use marketing strategies to build relationships—that’s what your business needs. Your brand should connect with people emotionally, so they remember your product, service, or location.
I started my journey at Dominican University in San Rafael, where I received my BA in Communications and Psychology. While there, I fell in love with print layout and design as the editor of our school paper, *The Habit*. That passion led me to my first job as the Director of Creative Services for a boutique branding agency. I then moved into Event Management with the American Cancer Society, where I worked my butt off marketing events, managing volunteers, and raising a lot of money for a great cause.
After that, I transitioned to a west coast mortgage company, where I became the Marketing Director, building a marketing team to help loan officers market themselves and grow their networks. We made relationship-building a unique selling proposition for the company.
But life took me on a new adventure—motherhood! After having two incredible baby girls, I realized the 40+ hour work week in a cubicle just wasn’t for me anymore. After achieving some pretty amazing health results of my own, I decided to launch my own health coaching business. That’s where my past marketing skills came in full force. I branded myself, mastered social media, and built a small business from online leads to real-life clients.

Fast forward, I kept getting asked by businesses—small and large—how I could help them with their marketing. So, here I am today, running Kat Ryan Marketing, where I bring all my love and passion for marketing to help entrepreneurs, nonprofits, and small businesses realize their dreams. When I’m not knee-deep in marketing strategies, I’m probably working out, exploring new ways to grow personally, or spending time with my 3 wildly fun and active kids, actually I’m probably at a sports game.
